Landmark Commission
The Historic Landmark Commission, appointed by City Council, makes recommendations to the City Council on the designation of historic sites or districts, assists the City Council in formulating design guidelines and other materials relevant to historic preservation or design review, and approves or disapproves new construction or the restoration, alteration or maintenance of any historic resource or other building within the Mineola Historic Landmark District.
Volunteers and board members from the Historic Landmark Commission decorate and operate the Mini Train at Iron Horse Square, coordinate the annual Christmas Tour of Homes, and hold various other fundraisers and events throughout the year to promote and celebrate Mineola's rich history
